FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Our lashes are thicker at the base and taper to a fine point. They are applied on to individual eyelashes, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are for professional application only. Self-application and application by untrained individuals is strongly discouraged.

What are Eyelash Extensions made out of?

Eyelash Extensions are crafted from synthetic polyester. Synthetic lashes respond better to wear and tear than other materials. In addition, synthetics have the least possible chance of allergic reactions with human skin.

What do they look like and how do they feel?

With proper application, Eyelash Extensions look and feel completely real. Each application is customized to suit the individual. We offer three thicknesses of lashes and four different curls with lengths ranging from 5mm to 17mm in a variety of colors for highlighting effects. Varying individual synthetic lash lengths are chosen to carefully replicate the shape and frame of a natural lash line. The thickness of the Luceez Eyelash Extensions applied is determined by the health and thickness of your natural lashes as well as personal preference. The overall effect is added curl, thickness and length, opening up the eye for added definition.

Eyelash Extensions are designed to be indistinguishable in size and weight to human lashes. They are flexible yet crimp-resistant, and they move with your natural lashes. As long as you keep up with the touch-up applications, it is almost impossible to tell that you are wearing the extensions.

It weighs about as much as a natural lash: practically nothing. You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes and they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle as other enhancement methods can. Please feel free to review our client testimonials and before/after pictures for additional information on the look and feel of Eyelash Extensions.

What are the benefits of wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Most women choose Eyelash Extensions to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes to look fuller. A number of women with naturally light colored lashes choose Eyelash Extensions to darken their existing lashes. Still others love the different, fun looks they can achieve with highlighting and layering.

Eyelash Extensions can create a younger appearance on many clients. Eyelash Extensions create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look.

Above all, the main advantage of Eyelash Extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen. Eyelash Extensions allow you to spend less time with makeup; mascara is certainly no longer necessary. Because our lashes are bigger at the base, they create the same effect as eyeliner so that step can be avoided as well. Overall,Eyelash Extensions will give you the appearance of having put significant effort into your eye makeup when, in reality, you spent no time at all. No application of eye makeup and no need for removal at the end of the day. The added benefit is that they look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day. Say goodbye to the application of mascara, stained tears and mascara raccoon masks around the eyes. With Eyelash Extensions you can look and feel gorgeous from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep with little to no effort.

How long do Eyelash Extensions Last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills. When properly applied, an Eyelash Extension will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. This can be as long as two months or more.

Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.

When eyelashes are extended with Eyelash Extensions, it will be more noticeable when these lashes shed because they are longer and darker than natural lashes. Please keep in mind this is a perfectly normal occurrence, with or without extensions. Lash Stylists will apply Eyelash Extensions primarily to those lashes that are in the middle of their maturation cycle to maximum the amount of time they will last, without jeopardizing the health of ‘baby’ lashes. The Eyelash extentension will fall out with the natural lash it is attached to when it reaches the end of its growth cycle. A few Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions may shed within the first week because the attached natural lashes are at the end of their growth cycle. Most will remain in place for approximately two months.

With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are typically only needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed. Your Eyelash Extensions Stylist will add extensions to the newest mature natural lashes to maintain a full, lush appearance.

How long does the procedure take?

Depending on the expertise and experience of the Lash Stylist and the number of lashes being applied, it generally takes between 90 to 150 minutes to apply a full set of Eyelash Extensions. Touch-ups can be done in as little as 45 to 60 minutes.

Can you describe the application process?

You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while Eyelash Extensions are applied one at a time to your own natural eyelashes. There is no discomfort or pain involved in the procedure. In fact, most clients find it is so relaxing and comfortable that they fall asleep.

I have no lashes at all, can I wear Eyelash Extensions?

Because Eyelash Extensions are applied to existing natural lashes you must have some natural lashes to receive the procedure. Eyelash Extensions should not, and in many cases cannot, be applied to clients who have alopecia, are undergoing chemotherapy or those who suffer from Trichotillomania, unless and until the individual has received effective treatment and normal lash growth has resumed.

Can I apply Eyelash Extensions to my own eyelashes?

No. Only a trained professional will be able to safely apply Eyelash Extensions. Unprofessional application or self-application may cause eye injury, lash damage or unnatural looking lashes. Eyelash Extensions are applied one lash at a time to your individual natural eyelashes to achieve long, thick and natural looking eyelashes. The procedure involves bonding the synthetic extension to your own natural eyelashes and should be performed only by professionally trained Lash Stylists only.

How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?

  • Do not get lashes wet for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid hot steam or sauna for 48 hours
  • Avoid running water directly on your lashes
  • Do not rub your eyes
  • Use water based eye makeup remover
  • Do not perm your lashes
  • Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler
  • Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)

Caution

One note of caution: We hear countless stories of individuals who go to an untrained lash technician because the cost is low. They receive a substandard set of lashes that is clumpy, painful and often damaging to their lashes. A proper application of lashes is not painful during or after the procedure. Eyelash extension application is an exacting process that takes skill and time. If the cost is very cheap, you should certainly question the training of the technician as well as the quality of the product. These same individuals often end up seeking out an Eyelash Extensions Stylist after they try the cheap alternatives. Ultimately, most have realized from experience that the old adage “you get what you pay for” is often true.

Eyebrow extension

Say farewell to thin and poorly maintained eyebrows, and hello to perfectly framed and sculptured brows with individual eyebrow extensions.

Say farewell to thin and poorly maintained eyebrows, and hello to perfectly framed and sculptured brows with individual eyebrow extensions. This revolutionary new treatment, corrects sparse eyebrows, allowing you to achieve the eyebrows you’ve always desired.

If maintained well, the treatment can last up to 10 days, depending on the process. Extensions that are placed directly on to the skin can last up to 5 days, whereas extensions that are placed on existing hairs can be maintained for around 10 days, if aftercare is followed correctly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the benefits of the service?

It’s definitely a revolutionary thing because the eyebrows are so inherently important for the symmetry of your face. They are so youth-giving so that when people have issues like alopecia or they’re going through chemotherapy, it hurts their confidence. To be able to give it back to them is such a pleasure for me.

Throughout the years, you [also] start seeing a lot of hormonal imbalances, vitamin deficiencies, scars, and over-plucking. So women were really looking for a solution other than dealing with the daily hassle of trying to pencil in their brows or put powder in or waxing to hide them.

How exactly does the treatment work?

It’s a really relaxing process. You sit down on a comfy massage table, and I play soothing music. I start with shaping the brows first by plucking, waxing—whatever they need. Then I decide on the shape. Part of deciding on the shape is measuring out the eye and the arch and giving the symmetry back to the face with the brows. Then we decide on the colors. And then the actual placement of each hair is done one by one. They are dipped in a surgical adhesive (it’s normally used to close wounds in surgeries, so it’s very gentle), and the brow is built in a very specific manner. You have to do it in such a way that you build it up and that there’s movement in the hair.

Mircoblading

Microblading is a form of tattooing. Unlike a regular tattoo, “microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine

When you’ve tried every pencil, powder, pigment, gel, and stencil and your brows are still off fleek, microblading—a more permanent solution to thin brows—is the last-ditch-effort treatment that promises to change your brow life.

Microblading doesn’t deposit ink as deep as a permanent tattoo, and because of this, the ink will fade within 1-5 years (time is based on skin type, age, skincare routine, sun exposure, etc). While this may not seem so desirable, the benefit to having Semi-Permanent Makeup as opposed to Permanent Makeup, is that as the trends change, and as you age and your face shape changes, you can alter your brows accordingly.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING EYEBROW LAST?

Microblading is a way of semi-permanent make-up, where through manual process of inserting pigment into the upper layers of skin we create the desired fullness and shape of the eyebrows. The effects last up to 1-3 years depending on age, lifestyle and skin type of client. A refill is however advised every 12-18 months

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL MIRCOBLANDING TECHNIQUE?

Investing an hour or two of your time can make you beautiful for years to come. The procedure is split into 2 appointments, which are 4-6 weeks apart to allow for the healing process to complete. The initial procedure will take from 60 to 90 minutes, and your second appointment takes from 30-60 minutes. It takes 5-14 days to heal.

IS THE TOUCH UP SESSION NECESSARY

The area is numbed so you experience slight to no pain! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year!

IS IT PAINFUL?

The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure your brow technician will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area, and also reapplied during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

Feel free to come in with their brow makeup on so our technician can see your every day look you prefer. Reference pictures of shapes and colors of brows are always welcomed. We will then work together to create the perfect brows!
After your procedure, clients MUST follow these instructions:

Within 2 hours after the procedure, clean brows using a q-tip and lightly moisten with distilled or cooled downed boiling water. Gently wipe away the old healing balm and any lymphatic liquid (clear yellowish liquid) that may have built up. Lightly pat dry with tissue and using a new q-tip, re-apply healing balm to the brows.

Eyelash Lift & Tint

An eyelash tint will commence with cleansing of the eyelashes and protection of the skin around the eye area with petroleum jelly and either cotton wool or special eyelash tinting shields. The tint is carefully applied to the lashes and left on for several minutes until the hair have tinted. The tint is removed and the clients then free to wear additional makeup.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My eyelashes are not very thick, can tinting make them thicker?

The tint will not make them thicker, but by making them darker, it can give the illusion of thicker lashes. Your therapist will be able to discuss with you other methods of improving your lashes such as the use of clear mascara to compliment the tint or the application of semi-permanent or permanent lashes.

Will the tint come off when I use the eye makeup remover or come into contact with water?

No. the tint will last for several weeks and will not come off with eye makeup remover or water. However, if you swim in chlorinated water it will lighten.

How does eyelash perms work?

First, lashes are coated with a special adhesive and wrapped around mini foam rollers or equally diminutive heated clips. This hold those in the curled position that you are hoping to achieve. As you squeeze your eyes tightly shut, a perming solution or cream is applied to your eyelashes with a tiny brush. The esthetician then covers your roller wrapped fringe in plastic wrap and lets the chemical concoction cook for about five minutes. After the perming chemical have taken full effect, on goes a neutralizing solution. More plastic wrap is applied. You sit for another few minutes.

Viola: curled lashes in a visit that takes about 45minutes.

What are the results of an eyelash perm?

The curl in your lashes will last anywhere from four weeks to three months. As your lashes grow and fall out (the life cycle of lashes is about 60 to 120 days), the effect becomes less noticeable.
